The Water Festival has kicked off in Pokémon Go, introducing both a paid Timed Research and free Field Research to the game. In addition, the event marks the debut of Sandygast and Palossand in the mobile game, and a global challenge tasks players with making 300 million Nice Throws to unlock extra bonuses. Just be careful not to drop your phone in the water while hunting for these creatures on the beach.

The Water Festival will run until June 12, 2023, at 8pm local time, giving players ample time to accomplish their goals during the event. This includes capturing Sandygast and evolving it, as well as the chance to encounter the Shiny version of Clauncher, which is available for the first time.

• Complete all tasks in this step: Rewards – 1,000 Stardust, 1,000 XP, and Clauncher(s)

• Catch 15 Water-type Pokémon: Reward – 1,000 Stardust
• Make 5 Great Throws: Reward – 15 Pokéballs
• Transfer 10 Pokémon: Reward – 10 Great Balls
• Use 10 Berries to help catch Pokémon: Reward – 10 Pinap Berries
• Complete all tasks in this step: Rewards – Surfer Avatar Pose and Sandygast
