Mirio’s Quirk Restoration in My Hero Academia: What’s the Secret?

Mirio Togata, also known as Lemillion, is an exceptional character in My Hero Academia, renowned for his skills and strength. As a member of U.A. High School’s esteemed “Big 3,” Mirio stands out with his remarkable fighting abilities and unique quirk, “Permeation,” which allows him to pass through solid objects and renders him nearly invulnerable.

Recognizing Mirio’s potential, the legendary hero Sir Nighteye saw him as the next Symbol of Peace and the ideal successor to All Might. However, tragedy struck when Mirio lost his quirk during a battle with the villain Overhaul, temporarily shattering his dreams of becoming a hero.

Months later, to everyone’s surprise, Mirio made a triumphant return with his quirk restored, joining the fight against the villainous Shigaraki Tomura in the Paranormal Liberation War arc. This unexpected comeback has left fans wondering how Mirio regained his quirk.

The answer lies in a young girl named Eri, who possesses the “Rewind” quirk. Eri played a crucial role in restoring Mirio’s powers, using her ability to reverse the effect of the quirk-erasing bullet and rewind Mirio’s body to a point before he lost his quirk. Mirio had initially lost his quirk while protecting Eri from Overhaul, and she was determined to help him regain his abilities. Through training at U.A. High, Eri honed her powers and successfully rewound Mirio, allowing him to once again embrace his heroic destiny.

In the anime, Mirio regains his quirk in Episode 125, while in the manga, it happens in Chapter 293. His timely return provided much-needed assistance to the struggling heroes in their battle against Shigaraki Tomura, Gigantomachia, and the League of Villains. It’s uncertain what would have happened if Mirio hadn’t made his grand entrance.

Mirio’s loss of his quirk occurred during a fierce confrontation with Overhaul, the leader of the Shie Hassaikai Yakuza. He selflessly sacrificed himself to protect Eri and was struck by a quirk-erasing bullet, resulting in the permanent loss of his powers. Mirio’s act of heroism in shielding Eri showcased one of the most memorable moments in the series.

Fortunately, Eri’s emergence as a key player in the story helped restore Mirio’s quirk. The event solidified Eri’s importance in the series, as she continues to develop and master her rewind ability. Given her remarkable feat of reversing Mirio’s permanent quirk loss, there is potential for Eri to achieve even greater things in the future.
