Decoding the Encounter: Cobra’s Meeting with the Five Elders in One Piece

In the latest One Piece manga chapters, the narrative has shifted its focus from the pirates to the Revolutionaries, offering fans long-awaited answers regarding Cobra’s meeting with the leaders of the World Government.

Chapter 1082 marked the not-so-surprising return of Sabo, leading to a gradual revelation of the Marijoa incident and the true intentions of the Revolutionary Army beyond the rescue of Bartholomew Kuma. Their primary objective was to destroy the Hoof, a symbol synonymous with the oppressive Celestial Dragons who use it to brand their slaves. This act of defiance served as the Revolutionary Army’s declaration of war, provoking the ire of the Celestial Dragons who openly demanded the prosecution of the Revolutionaries. In response, the Marines dispatched their two formidable fighters, Fujitora and Ryokugyu, to confront the Revolutionary Army. However, before the Admirals could reach their destination, the Revolutionary Army successfully sabotaged the food supplies, leaving only one objective remaining: the rescue of Kuma and the other enslaved individuals. As the three Revolutionary Army commanders engaged the Admirals in battle, Sabo embarked on a mission to find the key to Kuma’s collar. Amidst the Revolutionary Army’s tumultuous actions, a crucial meeting unfolded in Marijoa involving Nefertari Cobra and the enigmatic Five Elders.

The reason for Cobra’s meeting with the Five Elders becomes clearer as the events unfold. Outside the door, Cobra stood alongside his trusted associates, Chaka and Pell, while the palace guards denied their entry. Undeterred, Cobra instructed Chaka and Pell to protect Vivi, expressing his concern for her well-being and the importance of having someone trustworthy watch over her. With his mind at ease regarding Vivi’s safety, Cobra proceeded to enter the room and initiate a conversation with the Five Elders.

Cobra commenced the discussion by referencing the twenty kings who had established the World Government in Marijoa. These kings, considering themselves equals, had placed their weapons around the Empty Throne, symbolizing their renunciation of claiming it for themselves. He went on to explain that when the kings opted to remain in Marijoa, the kingdoms left without royal families had appointed new rulers. Interestingly, Cobra revealed that, except for the ruler of Alabasta, the names of the twenty dynasties no longer appeared in their respective countries.

As previously established, the queen of Alabasta, Nefertari Lily, made a significant decision by refusing to become a Celestial Dragon and instead chose to return to rule over Alabasta. However, Cobra dropped a shocking revelation—Lily’s name was inexplicably absent from the records. According to Cobra, Lily never returned to Alabasta, and her younger brother assumed the throne in her absence. Surprisingly, the Five Elders confirmed that Lily did, in fact, return to Alabasta, but they admitted that the records documenting her return had been lost over time.

Accepting their response, Cobra proceeded to pose another question, this time regarding the enigmatic “D” initial. Perplexed by Cobra’s query, the Five Elders found themselves at a loss for an immediate answer. However, before they could respond, Imu emerged and seated themselves on the Empty Throne.

The appearance of Imu sent shockwaves through the Five Elders, leaving them visibly uncomfortable. Questions raced through their minds, foremost among them being the reason behind Imu’s decision to reveal their presence. Cobra, too, was taken aback by the sight of Imu seated on the throne. Before assuming the seat, Imu uttered a single word, “Lily,” implying a potential connection between Imu and the world’s greatest secret.

Given Cobra’s encounter with Imu and his newfound knowledge, it comes as no surprise that he met a tragic fate. The World Government couldn’t allow the king of Alabasta to leave after becoming privy to such a monumental secret. The revelation, if exposed, would undoubtedly send shockwaves throughout the world. Prior to his demise, Cobra might have acquired further insights into Imu’s identity and the hidden history of the world. Additionally, it is likely that Sabo, who possesses knowledge about Imu and the secret of the Empty Throne, is not far from the throne room. Considering the destruction of the Lulusia Kingdom by Imu, it is plausible that Sabo witnessed the events that unfolded within the room. The World Government could not afford to let Sabo reveal the truth to Dragon, prompting their desperate attempt to eliminate the Lulusia Kingdom. However, Sabo somehow managed to survive. Future chapters will delve into the stories of Cobra, Sabo, and the other characters involved in this critical juncture. While Oda may not unveil Imu’s identity just yet, readers can anticipate further revelations regarding the enigmatic “D” and the World Government’s deep-seated apprehension surrounding it. Moreover, the fate of Shirahoshi, Sai, and the others embroiled in the struggle against a Celestial Dragon may also come to light.
