My Hero Academia Chapter 387 confirms a forgotten fan theory

In the latest installment of My Hero Academia, Chapter 387, a long-standing fan theory is confirmed, unraveling the intricate ties between a specific character and the esteemed Todoroki family. This chapter dives deeper into the enigmatic world of the Paranormal Liberation Army, shedding light on the origins and abilities of its formidable general, Geten. With the revelation of Geten’s ancestry, fans’ speculations and theories find validation, adding new layers of complexity to the narrative.

When Geten was first introduced in My Hero Academia, his incredibly powerful Ice Quirk immediately captivated the attention of fans. His membership in the exclusive “Quirk Awakening” club further fueled rumors that he might be connected to the Todoroki family, particularly as the long-lost alter ego of Toya, their mysterious son. However, these theories subsided following the shocking reveal of Dabi’s true identity as Toya Todoroki. Nonetheless, Chapter 387 rekindles the fan theories, proving that they were not entirely misplaced.

This chapter brings an update on the whereabouts of Geten and Mr. Compress, two villains who participated in the harrowing Paranormal Liberation War and suffered defeat at the hands of the Pro Heroes. Although Mr. Compress endured severe self-inflicted injuries during his escape attempt, he managed to survive. Since their defeat, the duo has seemingly been imprisoned together, gaining knowledge of the events unfolding outside. However, they are currently unable to take any action until the final battle reaches its conclusion. It is during this time that Geten and Mr. Compress exchange origin stories, leading to the revelation of Geten’s true lineage.

In a candid conversation with Mr. Compress, Geten unveils his past and the secret behind the incredible potency of his Ice Quirk. It is revealed that Geten is a descendant of the Himura clan’s branch families—a lineage intricately linked to the Quirk marriage between Rei Todoroki and Endeavor. The Himuras, an elitist clan, became even more exclusive as Quirks began to emerge. To safeguard against the emergence of a Heteromorph in their bloodline and to maintain the “purity” of their lineage, the Himuras enforced intermarriage exclusively among members of the head and branch families. Although this policy led to a decline in their numbers, it resulted in the amplification of their Ice Quirk’s strength over generations.

Over time, the Himura clan’s wealth and influence dwindled, and as a member of a branch family, Geten never stood a chance to inherit their legacy. When news of Rei Todoroki’s marriage to Endeavor broke, it signaled the downfall of the Himura lineage, causing its members to scatter. It was during this vulnerable period that Re-Destro encountered Geten, captivated by his extraordinary Ice Quirk. Re-Destro introduced him to the concept of Meta-Liberation, sparking a newfound loyalty in Geten and leading him to fervently serve the Liberation Army within the realm of My Hero Academia.

As Geten recounts his past, he repeatedly emphasizes the phrase “Himura blood runs thick.” The decades of intermarriage within the Himura clan not only explain the origin of Geten’s all-encompassing Ice Quirk but also shed light on the inheritance patterns within the Todoroki family. Shoto Todoroki inherited a perfect combination of Ice and Fire Quirks, while his siblings, Natsuo and Fuyumi, inherited solely Ice Quirks. The revelation adds depth to Dabi’s character, as his powerful Hellflame Quirk, combined with the Himura resistance to cold temperatures, is deemed a failure by Endeavor. However, Chapter 387 uncovers the hidden potential of Dabi and reveals that his Quirk is more complex than initially believed.

In a shocking turn of events, Dabi, who is none other than Toya Todoroki, the long-lost son of Endeavor and Rei, is shown tapping into his latent Himura genes. As he nears the brink of death, Dabi unlocks a previously inaccessible ability that showcases the true extent of his powers. With this newfound strength, he successfully replicates Shoto’s Phosphor Super move, defying expectations and keeping himself alive despite overwhelming odds. His flames now surpass even Endeavor’s, posing a grave threat to his father.

Meanwhile, the stage is set for a climactic confrontation as Rei Todoroki, armed with her powerful Ice Quirk factor, makes her entrance to the battlefield. However, the intense heat emitted by Dabi’s flames begins to inflict severe burns on the left side of Rei’s face, indicating the immense danger she faces. The fate of the Todoroki family hangs in the balance as Endeavor, accompanied by Rei, must confront their prodigal son and bring resolution to their troubled past.

The revelations in Chapter 387 foreshadow an epic and emotional conclusion to the Todoroki family’s deeply-rooted issues. As the story unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Shoto will arrive in time to aid his parents and siblings, and whether the complex dynamics of their relationships can be reconciled. My Hero Academia fans are eagerly anticipating the next chapters, eagerly awaiting the resolution of this gripping narrative arc.
