Bleach Anime’s Return Can Rectify Manga’s Ending Flaws

“Bleach’s Manga Ending Disappointed Many, Can the Anime Return Fix It?

The return of Bleach’s anime for the Thousand-Year Blood War arc has generated excitement among fans worldwide. With this revival, the anime has an opportunity to address the major flaws in the original manga’s ending.

When the Bleach anime ended in 2012, it received poor ratings due to low-quality filler arcs. The manga’s popularity also declined during this time, particularly with the unpopular Lost Substitute Soul Reaper arc preceding the Thousand-Year Blood War. The manga spent four years on this arc, which promised epic battles but ultimately rushed through them, leading to an unsatisfying conclusion.

Fans eagerly celebrated the announcement of animating the Thousand-Year Blood War arc as it contains some of the series’ best fights and explores a significant narrative moment involving the Quincy and Soul Reapers. Moreover, it offers a chance to correct past mistakes. Creator Tite Kubo and the animation studio have already expanded on certain elements that were previously overlooked and continue to add previously cut content.

The anime adaptation of Bleach’s Thousand-Year Blood War will likely need to slow down its pace to cover all the remaining chapters. Expanding on previously cut scenes, such as the battles between Sternritter and Soul Reaper Captains, and providing additional context can enhance the overall storytelling and address previous inconsistencies. The final battle with Yhwach, in particular, would benefit from significant expansion.

So far, the Bleach: The Thousand-Year Blood War anime has exceeded fans’ expectations and shows promise in rectifying the rushed ending of the manga. It has the potential to deliver the satisfying conclusion that fans have been eagerly anticipating.”
