The Thousand Year Blood War Arc has been a highly anticipated event for Bleach fans, who have waited for Ichigo’s reintroduction into society after a decade-long absence. However, with expectations at an all-time high, some viewers were left dissatisfied with certain plot holes and oversights that they felt ruined their experience.

The Visoreds, Aizen’s experimental creations, were introduced as a new source of Shinigami superpowers imbued with serious Hollow influences. However, once Ichigo’s training was complete, this group was left to fade into the background, with only Shinji Hirako holding much authority while Mashiro Kuna and Hiyori Sarugaki have essentially become tools for the Shinigami’s benefit. Fans have expressed disappointment with the plot-device treatment that the Visoreds have received over the years and call for their well-deserved redemption in the Thousand Year Blood War Arc.

Additionally, some viewers have expressed frustration with the disjointed storytelling, which involves making a big reveal and then clueing viewers in about its importance with an ill-timed flashback that comes across as an afterthought. While not all viewers have an issue with this system of storytelling, others find it to be confusing, disjointed, and poorly paced.

Finally, fans are eagerly awaiting Yoruichi’s appearance, as they have grown frustrated with her extended “hiatus.” Urahara has popped in and out of episodes throughout the first cours of the Thousand Year Blood War, leaving fans searching the scenery for his “side-kick” and partner in crime, the captivating Yoruichi. Manga readers, in particular, are anticipating her return and the fan service that comes with it.
