Captain Kuzan’s Strength in One Piece

Captain Kuzan, formerly known as Admiral Aokiji, has been revealed as the 10th Titanic Captain of the Blackbeard Pirates in the current Egghead Island arc of One Piece. As one of the major driving forces of the story, Kuzan has been very active, seen infiltrating Whole Cake Island to capture Pudding, attempting to stop Koby from escaping, and taking on his former mentor, Garp, in combat.

Despite his defection from the Navy, Kuzan is still a powerful fighter and his strength has been evident throughout the series. As one of the Navy Admirals before the 2-year time skip, he was introduced in the Long Ring Long Land arc and played a major role in the Water Seven Saga and the Paramount War.

During the Water 7 arc, Kuzan showed his sense of justice by letting Nico Robin escape twice. He was known for not enjoying killing people indiscriminately and persecuting all pirates. However, as one of the elite fighters that the World Government had at their disposal, his strength was incredible. He could go toe-to-toe against the legendary Whitebeard at Marineford and fought the entire war without receiving major injuries.

Kuzan is a user of two types of Haki, Observation and Armament. Although Haki was not prevalent in the pre-time skip of One Piece, he showed his excellent control over Haki during the war of Marineford while fighting the elite commanders of the Whitebeard Pirates. His control over both Haki types implies that he is an excellent Haki user, which is not surprising given that he was the first student of Garp, who is a master of Haki himself.

When it comes to his Devil Fruit powers, Kuzan possesses the Logia type Hie Hie no Mi, which has made him an Ice Human. This fruit grants him the ability to become ice itself as well as produce and manipulate it according to his will. Kuzan’s control over this fruit is excellent and he can freeze the entire ocean within a matter of seconds, as well as trap his enemies within a ball of ice if they are not at his level of strength. His ability is lethal and can kill most characters if they are frozen to the bone.

Kuzan used his Devil Fruit powers against Akainu on Punk Hazard for 10 days and managed to make it an incredibly difficult fight for the latter. Although Kuzan lost, his abilities were such that they managed to change the weather over half of Punk Hazard permanently and made it a snowy, wintery island. This might even be a sign of Devil Fruit Awakening, and if that is the case, Kuzan could very well be one of the elite fighters in One Piece, capable of fighting against the Yonko without much trouble.

In summary, despite being a former Admiral of the Navy, Kuzan is still a force to be reckoned with in the One Piece universe. His strength, Haki, and Devil Fruit powers make him a formidable opponent, and his recent actions as a member of the Blackbeard Pirates have raised questions about where he stands among the very strongest in One Piece.
