- Mineta Minoru: Mineta is often criticized for being a poorly written character in My Hero Academia. His primary purpose seems to be comic relief, but his constant objectification of women and his perverted behavior make him a highly controversial character. His presence adds little to the plot or character development and often detracts from the overall experience.
- Koda Koji: Koda is a character with great potential but suffers from a lack of development and screen time. His ability to communicate with animals is intriguing, but this aspect is rarely explored, leaving his character feeling underdeveloped and underutilized. Koda could benefit from more meaningful interactions and storylines to showcase his unique abilities.
- Hagakure Toru: Hagakure’s invisibility quirk could have been an interesting concept, but unfortunately, her character lacks depth and substance. She rarely receives any significant development or focus, making her feel like a background character rather than a fully realized member of the main cast. More exploration of her personality and abilities would improve her standing.
- Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu: Tetsutetsu’s character suffers from being a carbon copy of Kirishima Eijiro, but without the same level of development and growth. He is often overshadowed by Kirishima, and his limited presence in the story leaves little room for him to stand out or make a lasting impression. Tetsutetsu needs more unique qualities and individual growth to become a more compelling character.
- Pony Tsunotori: Pony is a character introduced during the Joint Training Arc but fails to make a lasting impact. Her design and quirk have potential, but her lack of development and minimal involvement in the story make her forgettable. More exploration of her background and relationships could help improve her overall standing.
- Monoma Neito: Monoma is the class 1-B student with the quirk to copy other abilities, but his character lacks depth and falls flat compared to other characters. He often serves as a one-note antagonist, and his potential for growth and complexity remains largely untapped. Providing him with more character development and unique storylines would enhance his role in the series.
- Mei Hatsume: Mei is an inventive character who creates gadgets for heroes, but her overall presence feels disconnected from the main narrative. While she brings innovation to the series, she lacks meaningful character development and often feels like a plot device rather than a fully fleshed-out character. Further integration of her character into the main story would make her more engaging.
- Shoji Mezo: Shoji possesses an intriguing quirk with multiple appendages, but his character lacks significant development or exploration. He often fades into the background, rarely receiving substantial attention or personal growth. Giving him more agency and involvement in major story arcs would help elevate his character.
- Kinoko Komori: Kinoko is a member of class 1-B with the ability to control mushrooms, but she remains one of the least developed characters in the series. She receives minimal focus, and her potential as a unique hero goes largely untapped. Further exploration of her abilities and meaningful interactions with other characters would improve her standing.
- Awase Yousetsu: Awase is another class 1-B student who possesses the ability to merge objects together. However, he suffers from a lack of development and presence in the series. His character feels underutilized, with limited opportunities to showcase his abilities or contribute to the overall plot. Providing him with more substantial storylines would make his character more engaging.
It’s important to note that opinions about characters may vary, and some fans may find redeeming qualities or potential in these characters that I have identified as poorly written. However, based on the general consensus among fans and critics, these characters have often been cited as lacking depth, development, or meaningful contributions to the overall story.
My Hero Academia continues to introduce a wide range of characters, and the series has many well-developed and beloved characters as well. It’s worth noting that character development can evolve over time, and these characters may see improvement and growth in future arcs.
