Disney confirms release of its top 9 movies for 2025

Disney’s updated 2025 release calendar showcases an array of highly anticipated films and franchise installments, with standout entries including Fantastic Four, Avatar 3, and a controversial live-action remake.

Despite facing challenges such as a lackluster 2023 box office performance and strikes from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), Disney is poised to dominate the 2025 box office with a lineup of nine powerhouse titles.

Among the highlights of Disney’s 2025 slate:

• Captain America: Brave New World (February 14, 2025): This Marvel Studios production, featuring Anthony Mackie’s debut as the MCU’s new Captain America, has weathered a tumultuous production journey but is set to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day. The film promises to continue the story of Sam Wilson from “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and introduce connections to “The Incredible Hulk,” along with welcoming Harrison Ford into the MCU as President Thunderbolt Ross.

• Disney’s Snow White (March 21, 2025): Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Snow White,” starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, has generated buzz and controversy alike due to reported creative decisions and critiques of the original animated film. Originally slated for 2024, its release was postponed to March 2025.

• Thunderbolts (May 2, 2025): Marvel Studios’ ensemble film brings together a roster of MCU anti-heroes, including Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, and others. The project, initially set for 2024, underwent casting changes and delays.

• Moana (June 27, 2025): A live-action reimagining of the beloved animated film, initially planned for June 2025, faced delays amid production challenges, including the SAG-AFTRA strike.

• The Fantastic Four (July 25, 2025): The long-awaited reboot of Marvel’s first family, directed by Matt Shakman, promises a fresh take on the iconic characters, with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in lead roles.

• Blade (November 7, 2025): Marvel’s vampire hunter, portrayed by Mahershala Ali, has encountered production hurdles and delays since its announcement in 2019, signaling further delays ahead.

• Zootopia 2 (November 26, 2025): The sequel to Disney’s animated hit of 2016, starring Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, is slated for a Thanksgiving release, continuing the adventures of its beloved characters.

• Avatar 3 (December 19, 2025): James Cameron’s epic saga continues with “Avatar 3,” introducing new elements to the Na’vi world and building upon the narrative established in its predecessors.
