DCEU hits like ‘Batman v Superman’ and ‘Wonder Woman’ land on Netflix next month

Netflix will soon offer a selection of DC Extended Universe films for subscribers to enjoy. Starting December 1st, viewers can access eight movies from the franchise, including “Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Suicide Squad,” “Wonder Woman,” “Justice League,” “Birds of Prey,” “Wonder Woman 1984,” and “The Suicide Squad.”

“Man of Steel,” directed by Zack Snyder in 2013, marked the inception of the DCEU, introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016) continued the saga, featuring Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, setting up a clash with Superman.

Directed by David Ayer, “Suicide Squad” (2016) followed a team of supervillains on a perilous government mission, including notable characters like Deadshot and Harley Quinn, portrayed by Will Smith and Margot Robbie, respectively.

“Patty Jenkins directed the first ‘Wonder Woman’ film (2017), chronicling the superhero’s origin and her quest to end World War I. Its sequel, ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ (2020), also directed by Jenkins, sees Diana Prince confronting a new threat in the 1980s.

“Justice League” (2017), directed by Snyder with a theatrical release, brought together DC’s iconic heroes to battle Steppenwolf. “Birds of Prey” (2020), helmed by Cathy Yan, followed Harley Quinn and her allies as they took on Black Mask.

The latest addition, “The Suicide Squad” (2020) by James Gunn, featured a mix of returning and new characters embarking on a mission against a monstrous threat.

The DCEU journey culminates with “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” (December 22 release), paving the way for a new DC Universe under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran, starting with “Superman: Legacy” in 2025, starring David Corenswet.

In addition to these films, Netflix also hosts various DC Comics adaptations, including animated and live-action series like “Justice League,” “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Black Lightning.”
