The MCU’s 11 Celestials: A Comprehensive Guide

As of my knowledge cutoff in January 2022, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has featured several Celestials, powerful cosmic beings with immense capabilities. Here’s a list of the Celestials in the MCU:

  1. Eson the Searcher:
    • First Appearance: “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)
    • Description: Eson is briefly shown using the Power Stone to decimate a planet in the Collector’s holographic presentation.
  2. Arishem the Judge:
    • First Appearance: “Eternals” (2021)
    • Description: Arishem is a central figure among the Celestials, responsible for judging the evolution of various civilizations and deciding whether they should continue or be terminated.
  3. Tiamut, the Dreaming Celestial:
    • First Appearance: “Eternals” (2021)
    • Description: Tiamut is a unique Celestial among his kind. He’s referred to as the Dreaming Celestial and plays a significant role in the plot of “Eternals.”
  4. Jemiah the Analyzer:
    • First Appearance: “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)
    • Description: Jemiah is mentioned in the Collector’s explanation of the origins of the Power Stone.
  5. Eson the Searcher (Alternate Timeline):
    • First Appearance: “What If…?” (2021) – Episode 2
    • Description: In an alternate timeline explored in the animated series “What If…?”, Eson the Searcher is shown to have a different fate.
  6. Ziran the Tester:
    • First Appearance: “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)
    • Description: Ziran is briefly mentioned in the Collector’s presentation as one of the Celestials.
  7. Hargen the Measurer:
    • First Appearance: “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)
    • Description: Hargen is also mentioned by the Collector while explaining the Power Stone’s history.
  8. Oneg the Prober:
    • First Appearance: “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)
    • Description: Oneg is part of the Celestial lore presented by the Collector in the MCU.
  9. Eson the Searcher (Again):
    • First Appearance: “Eternals” (2021)
    • Description: Eson’s name is mentioned in a list of Celestials during a scene in “Eternals.”
  10. Nezarr the Calculator:
    • First Appearance: “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)
    • Description: Nezarr is included in the Collector’s explanation about the Celestials and the Power Stone.
  11. Exitar the Executioner (Presumed):
    • First Appearance: “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017)
    • Description: While not explicitly named, the enormous Celestial seen in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is often presumed to be Exitar the Executioner due to its role in judging worlds.
