Concept artist for The Marvels unveils alternate cameo designs

Concept artist Andy Park has unveiled alternative designs for Beast’s cameo in The Marvels’ post-credits scene, offering a glimpse into the creative process behind the surprise appearance. Park shared multiple design options, emphasizing his commitment to staying faithful to Beast’s comic book origins while exploring different visual interpretations for the character’s MCU debut. The showcased artwork on X, in particular, reflects a style reminiscent of Beast’s appearance in traditional comic book illustrations.

The post-credits scene in The Marvels features Monica Rambeau waking up in another universe and encountering an alternate version of her mother, Binary. Notably, Beast makes an appearance in this scene, portrayed by Kelsey Grammer in a room reminiscent of Fox’s X-Men films. The concept art shared by Park provides insight into the consideration of various visual approaches before settling on the final design for this iconic X-Men character’s introduction to the MCU.

This cameo is part of a broader trend within the MCU, showcasing crossovers from actors who were previously part of non-MCU Marvel films. Evan Peters and Patrick Stewart have already made appearances, with Peters featuring in WandaVision and Stewart reprising his role as Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The trend is set to continue with Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds joining the MCU in the upcoming Deadpool 3, where Reynolds brings his iconic Merc with a Mouth alongside Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine into the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe.
