Deadpool 3 Officially a Part of the MCU

Director Shawn Levy has reassured Marvel fans that ‘Deadpool 3’ is undeniably part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Multiverse Saga.

Shawn Levy, the director of ‘Deadpool 3,’ has offered some clarity for Marvel enthusiasts concerning the film’s place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a conversation with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, they addressed the numerous rumors surrounding ‘Deadpool 3,’ including the speculation that the film’s plot involves Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine crossing dimensions from the Fox X-Men Movie Universe into the MCU.

Such a storyline holds significant implications for the MCU, particularly in terms of the rebooting of the X-Men franchise under the Marvel Studios umbrella. Although Levy refrains from divulging major plot details, he confirms that the film is an integral part of the MCU Multiverse Saga:

“I’m so wary of giving anything away because I’ve learned the hard way that even with a few titles – like any Marvel title – everything and anything you say can lead to not only rumors but misinformation. I’ll just say this: It’s very much part of the MCU, what a privilege, what a wealth of resources and knowledge.”

Levy’s statement leaves room for interpretation, suggesting that ‘Deadpool 3’ may have a more significant role in the Marvel Multiverse Saga than initially thought. The end of the Fox X-Men movie universe could be a pivotal event leading to ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ Some Marvel fans speculate that characters from the X-Men Movie Universe may emerge as formidable adversaries for the MCU Avengers when the multiverse’s remnants come together under Kang’s rule.

However, Shawn Levy emphasizes that, regardless of these potential developments, the primary objective of the ‘Deadpool 3’ creative team is to create an exceptional Deadpool movie:

“The biggest thrill for Hugh, Ryan, and I is that we’re making very much the movie we hoped to make,” Levy stated. “One hears rumors all the time – good, bad, everywhere in between – about what certain studios are like to work at. I’ll just say that this Deadpool movie, co-starring Wolverine, is very much aligned with the DNA of the Deadpool franchise, and there’s been nothing but support in making the movie audacious, gritty, hilarious, and gnarly.”

‘Deadpool 3′ is currently on hold due to the ongoing Actors’ Strike and does not have a confirmed release date.
