During the Water Festival: Beach Week, players can participate in a range of raid battles, including one-star to mega raids. Additionally, Sandygast, Palossand, and the shiny form of Clauncher will make their first appearance in the game. The event commences on June 6 at 10 AM and concludes on June 12 at 8 PM, local time. Field Research Tasks, Rewards, and Encounters at the Water Festival

Niantic has introduced two new Pokémon, Sandygast and Palossand, which players can encounter during the Water Festival. Shiny Palossand is also available as part of the event. Sandygast can be found as a field research task encounter and a one-star raid boss. To obtain Palossand or its shiny variant, players need to evolve Sandygast, requiring 50 Sandygast Candy. As an event bonus, the duration of Rainy Lure is extended fourfold, providing additional gameplay enjoyment.

The Water Festival Field Research offers a total of seven tasks, each with its own rewards. Completing these tasks will grant players various items and encounters. Here is a breakdown of the tasks and their respective rewards:

  • Catch 5 Water-type Pokémon: 10 x Poké Ball or 5 x Great Ball
  • Catch 15 Water-type Pokémon: Frillish encounter (shiny available)
  • Catch 25 Water-type Pokémon: Sandygast encounter (shiny unavailable)
  • Make 5 Nice Throws: Clauncher encounter (shiny available)
  • Make 5 Great Throws: Binacle encounter (shiny available)
  • Make 10 Great Throws: 30 x Blastoise Mega Energy or 30 x Swampert Mega Energy
  • Hatch an Egg: Scarf Lapras encounter (shiny available)

Timed Research Tasks, Rewards, and Encounters at the Water Festival

Players can access event-specific Timed Research by purchasing a Timed Research Ticket for $5 or the equivalent amount in their local currency. The Timed Research Ticket is available exclusively in the in-game shop from June 6 at 10 AM to June 11 at 8 PM, local time. It’s important to note that PokeCoins cannot be used to purchase the Tickets. As the Water Festival Timed Research has an expiration date, the tasks and rewards will no longer be available after June 12 at 8 PM, local time. Step One:

  • Catch 10 Water-type Pokémon: 1000 x Stardust
  • Make 5 Nice Throws: 10 x Poké Ball
  • Transfer 5 Pokémon: 5 x Great Ball
  • Use 5 Berries while catching Pokémon: 10 x Razz Berry
  • Completion rewards: 1000 x Stardust, Clauncher encounter, 1000 XP

Step Two:

  • Catch 15 Water-type Pokémon: 1000 x Stardust
  • Make 5 Great Throws: 15 x Poké Ball
  • Transfer 10 Pokémon: 10 x Great Ball
  • Use 10 Berries while catching Pokémon: 5 x Pinap Berry
  • Completion rewards: Surfer Pose, Sandygast encounter

Global Challenge Goal and Bonuses at the Water Festival

The Water Festival also presents a global challenge with the goal of achieving 300 million Nice Throws. Trainers worldwide can contribute to this challenge, and the rewards for achieving the goal are significant. During the challenge period, Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws have a chance to grant increased Candy. Trainers at level 31 and above also have a higher chance of obtaining Candy XL when successfully capturing Pokémon with Nice, Great, or Excellent Throws.

Spotlight Hour and Wild Pokémon Encounters at the Water Festival

To further celebrate the Water Festival, a special Spotlight Hour is scheduled for June 6 from 6 PM to 7 PM. During this hour, players can enjoy a 3x XP bonus for each Pokémon caught. The Spotlight Hour features the following Pokémon:

  • Krabby (shiny available)
  • Kabuto (shiny available)
  • Corphish (shiny available)
  • Clauncher (shiny available)
  • Crabrawler (shiny unavailable)

Additionally, the Water Festival introduces various wild Pokémon encounters, including Tentacool, Shellder, Krabby, Alolan Exeggutor, Horsea, Staryu, Marill, Wingull, Wailmer, Spheal, Finneon, Dwebble, Frillish, Clauncher, Mantine, and Popplio (shiny unavailable).
