These matches were touted as Ash’s most significant and challenging encounters to date, and while the usage of recent captures was acceptable, winning should have motivated him to assemble the strongest possible team. This sentiment is heightened by the realization that Pokémon Journeys serves as Ash’s final series as the protagonist, presenting the ideal opportunity to showcase his full potential as a Trainer. The fact that he chose to persist with an entirely new team, even in this crucial scenario, remains one of the most regrettable missed opportunities in the anime. The prospect of witnessing Pikachu, Charizard, Sceptile, and Greninja fighting side by side on the same team is an unfulfilled dream that lingers in the hearts of fans.
