The true cause of Broly’s animosity towards Goku

Broly’s extraordinary power at birth led him to believe that Goku should acknowledge and submit to his superior strength. Furthermore, King Vegeta III, feeling threatened by Broly’s immense power, banished him to the desolate and barren planet Vampa. This unforgivable act undoubtedly added fuel to Broly’s thirst for vengeance and rivalry with Goku.

As for the question of whether the original Broly remains canon in Dragon Ball, the answer is no. The older version of Broly, characterized by uncontrolled rage, violent outbursts, and sadistic behavior, exists as a relic of the past. Since Akira Toriyama, the creator, had no involvement in the development of the original character or some of the movies released during that time, they do not align with the franchise’s canon timeline. However, Toriyama recognized the potential in Broly and wanted to bring forth a more well-rounded character, one with a heart. Consequently, Broly finally became canon in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, where he exhibited compassion and manners, albeit struggling with the overwhelming power within him. This transformation into a more multifaceted character contributed to his immense popularity among fans, as he is no longer perceived as a homicidal villain.”
