Black Clover Manga Author Takes Short Break Due to Illness

Black Clover, the popular fantasy manga and anime series, has hit another hiatus, this time due to health issues of its author, Yūki Tabata. The news was announced in the latest issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, published by Shueisha, which revealed that the series will not appear in the upcoming 51st issue of the magazine. The hiatus is expected to be brief, and the series is set to return by the end of the month, in the 52nd issue, which is scheduled for release on November 28th.

This is not the first time that Black Clover has gone on hiatus this year. The series previously took a three-month break back in April so that Tabata could have time to plan out the story’s final arc. The manga made its return in the 34th issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, which was released on August 1st.

Tabata began publishing Black Clover in Weekly Shōnen Jump in February 2015, and has since produced 33 volumes worth of content. The story follows Asta, a young orphan boy who lives in a world where everyone possesses some sort of magical ability. Despite not having any magical power himself, Asta aims to become the next Wizard King, and develops an intense rivalry with fellow orphan Yuno, who is a magical prodigy with the ability to control wind.

Black Clover has sold over 18 million copies worldwide as of November 2021, and has inspired multiple adaptations, including a four-season anime series produced by Studio Pierrot, which aired from October 2017 to March 2021. The anime stars Gakuto Kajiwara as Asta, Kana Yūki as Noelle Silva, and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Yuno. Additionally, a Black Clover anime film titled “Sword of the Wizard King” was announced in March 2021, which is set to premiere in Japanese theaters and internationally on Netflix on March 31, 2023.

While the hiatus may be disappointing for fans, it is important to prioritize the health and well-being of the creators who bring us these beloved stories. Fans can catch up on all four seasons of the Black Clover anime on streaming platform Crunchyroll, and the manga is distributed in North America by VIZ Media.
