Dragon Ball: The Real Reason Behind The Tournament Of Power?

The Tournament of Power is arguably the most exciting and intense event in Dragon Ball Super. The fate of entire universes was on the line, and the most powerful warriors from each universe were pitted against one another. However, many people believe that the tournament was Goku’s fault, that he was solely responsible for the destruction that nearly befell the multiverse. This belief, however, is misguided.

While it’s true that Goku has made some questionable decisions in the past, he wasn’t the one who came up with the idea of the Tournament of Power. In fact, the true cause of the tournament lies elsewhere. It all started during the Universe 7 Vs. Universe 6 Tournament, when Goku expressed his desire to have a tournament for Zeno. This seemingly innocent comment was taken to heart by Zeno, who saw it as a fun idea and stored it away in his mind for later.

Fast forward to after the Goku Black arc and certain filler episodes, and the two Zeno’s (due to the events of the previous arc, there are now two Zeno’s in the main timeline) were getting bored. That’s when the Grand Priest reminded them of Goku’s idea for a tournament between universes. And thus, the Tournament of Power was born.

Goku may have inadvertently planted the seed for the tournament, but he had no control over whether it would ever come to fruition. Moreover, it was Zeno’s impulsive decision-making and childlike whims that ultimately led to the tournament’s creation, with the rule that every universe that loses should be erased from existence. It’s easy to see why every god in every universe was panicked and looking for someone to blame when they heard the news.

Despite this, Goku became the scapegoat for the tournament’s creation, with many fans blaming him for the danger that the universes faced. However, this is an unfair characterization of Goku’s role in the tournament. The blame should fall on Zeno, who was ultimately responsible for creating the tournament and the rules that governed it. Of course, some fans may still believe that Goku played a significant role in the tournament’s creation, but it’s important to remember that he was not the one who made the final decision.

Regardless of who is to blame, the Tournament of Power was an unforgettable event in the Dragon Ball Super anime. It showcased some of the most epic battles in the series, and the stakes were incredibly high. Ultimately, it was a brilliant arc that left a lasting impression on fans.
