Black Clover movie teases Asta’s Wizard King moment

Studio Pierrot, known for its work on the Naruto franchise, is temporarily stepping away from the world of Konoha as Boruto: Naruto Next Generations goes on hiatus. However, fans of the studio can look forward to two exciting projects arriving this summer. Firstly, Bleach fans will rejoice as Ichigo Kurosaki and the Soul Society make their return in the highly anticipated second part of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, set to premiere in July. Secondly, the Black Clover franchise will see its first feature-length film, titled Sword of The Wizard King, also hitting the screens this summer.

To generate buzz for the upcoming Netflix original, the film’s writer, Johnny Onda, recently shared insights in an interview, unveiling a moment that Asta fans have eagerly awaited for quite some time. Black Clover: Sword of The Wizard King is the inaugural movie in the Black Clover series, presenting an original story that hasn’t been explored in the manga. Onda, who has previously contributed to the shonen franchise with three light novels, delved into a scene that showcases Asta on the verge of fulfilling his dream of becoming the Wizard King.

Describing this pivotal moment, Onda stated, “The highlight, in my opinion, is the scene in the middle of the film where Asta inspires the despairing members of the Magic Knights with courage. Those who were beaten and battered by Konrad and the others managed to survive, but they were devastated and their hearts were about to break.” He further elaborated, “They were so devastated that their hearts almost broke when Sekke said, ‘Let’s run away’ (Onda laughs). It was in this state of mind that Asta stands up and sends out a message to everyone. ‘We are the one and only Magic Knights of the Clover Kingdom!’ Hearing this, everyone regains their courage, stands up, and prepares for battle. He rallies up the Magic Knights and stands up ready to face the enemy. Fans of ‘Black Clover’ have definitely wanted to see Asta as a Wizard King, and this is a rare glimpse of him.”

For those unfamiliar with the storyline of the forthcoming original movie, Netflix provides a summary: “As Asta continues to make strides towards his goal of becoming the Wizard King, the previous Wizard King Conrad, who was once feared as evil and sealed away, resurfaces along with three previous Wizard Kings.
