“Baymax!”: Trailer, Release Date, and What to Expect from the ‘Big Hero 6’ Series
The beloved personal healthcare companion, Baymax (Scott Adsit), returns to our screens. Initially, Baymax saved the day in Disney’s 2014 animated film, Big Hero 6. Now, Baymax is back, along with his friend Hiro (Ryan Potter), but this time they’re not fighting villains. Instead, Disney+ brings us Baymax!, a series where Baymax fulfills his role as a personal healthcare companion, tending to the citizens of San Fransokyo.
Baymax, Hiro, and their superhero team originally appeared in the Marvel Comics series Big Hero 6 by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau. While the movie took liberties with the source material, it marked the first time Disney featured Marvel characters in an animated film.
Baymax! is part of a series of follow-ups to Big Hero 6. The 2D animated show, Big Hero 6: The Series, ran for three seasons on the Disney Channel, following Hiro and his friends in San Fransokyo after the events of Big Hero 6. Several animated shorts featuring Baymax also aired on Disney Channel, including Baymax Dreams and Big Chibi 6: The Series.
