Casa de Coco – Restaurante de Familia will debut at Disneyland Paris Resort on July 29, 2023, immersing visitors in the world of “Coco” and celebrating Miguel’s family heritage. Collaborating with Disneyland Paris and Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Imagineers have skillfully brought Miguel’s family tale to life. Discover five notable features to anticipate in this newly unveiled ‘Coco’-inspired eatery:
- Timeless Statue Tribute Guests are greeted by a familiar face as they enter Casa de Coco – a life-sized bronze statue of Miguel adorned in traditional mariachi attire.
- Whirling Papel Picados Vibrant papel picados (decorative paper flags) sway above the patio, introducing guests to the Rivera family’s history, just like in the movie’s opening scene. These papel picados, inspired by Mexican culture, folklore, and music, were meticulously crafted by Imagineers, totaling nearly 200.
- Dynamic Alebrijes Colorful carved alebrijes, symbolic spirit guides to the Land of the Dead, captivate the restaurant’s ambiance. One such alebrije, representing Miguel’s guide Dante, stretches elegantly across the counter.
- Guitar of Significance Within la Sala de Música (the Music Room), Héctor’s guitar takes center stage among an array of musical instruments. This guitar symbolizes Miguel’s rediscovered family legacy, with unique elements like pages from Héctor’s diary brought to life through Pixar’s original references.
- Homage to a Shoemaker Family La Sala de Familia (the Family Room) pays homage to family members through portraits that immortalize their stories. Echoing the trade that united Miguel’s family, the room showcases items related to shoemaking, including tools and shoe boxes displaying the family’s brand.
