Avengers finale battle copied Phineas and Ferb a year prior, fans react

In a surprising revelation, a video shared on Instagram by jeffcartervolcfgq has sparked a debate among fans, suggesting that The Avengers’ epic battle scene from the 2012 film may have been a scene-to-scene copy of an episode from Disney Channel’s animated series, Phineas and Ferb. The video features Dan Povenmire, the creator of Phineas and Ferb, who draws parallels between the two battles and boldly claims, “I’m just saying, we did it a year earlier.”

Marvel movies have long been hailed as masterpieces due to the immense effort and creativity invested in crafting memorable scenes, epic fight sequences, and cleverly dropping Easter eggs. However, this video has caused some fans to question whether the iconic battle scene involving Earth’s original six Avengers might have been inspired by an episode of the beloved animated series.

The video cleverly juxtaposes the scenes from both The Avengers and Phineas and Ferb while overlaying matching audio. It begins with the caption, “How did none of us notice this…” followed by a voiceover description of The Avengers’ battle, detailing a building downtown with a strange device on top that opens a circular portal to another dimension. An army of metallic grey warriors emerges from the portal, leading to an epic battle in the heart of the city. When the device is eventually deactivated, the warriors plummet from the sky, defeated.

The voiceover then highlights the corresponding scene from Phineas and Ferb, which strikingly mirrors The Avengers’ battle. The building with the device on top, the portal to another dimension, and the army of metallic grey warriors all bear an uncanny resemblance, culminating in a similar epic showdown before they meet their demise when the device is deactivated.

Fans have been quick to weigh in on the matter, with differing opinions flooding the comments section. One user asserts that the scene in question was specifically created for The Avengers movie and never occurred in the comics, contrary to popular belief. Another user points out that the video merely highlights the plot similarities and doesn’t necessarily imply that Marvel outright copied the scene from Phineas and Ferb. They argue that it could be a mere coincidence or a shared storytelling trope.

On the other hand, some fans are convinced that Phineas and Ferb may have inadvertently kickstarted the “Multiverse trend” long before major superhero movies adopted the concept. This notion suggests that the animated series could have laid the groundwork for exploring alternate dimensions and universes in storytelling, which later became a popular theme in superhero films.

Amidst the discussions, there’s also a recurring theme of Disney’s recycling practices, with one comment suggesting that the media giant often reuses scenes, movements, and ideas across its productions to cut costs. This claim draws parallels to other Disney films, such as Winnie the Pooh and The Jungle Book, where similar instances of scene recycling have been observed.

As the debate rages on, fans and enthusiasts continue to share their thoughts on whether Marvel may have borrowed from Phineas and Ferb or vice versa. While some believe it to be a mere coincidence or a common storytelling trope, others speculate about the possibility of intentional inspiration or Disney’s recycling practices. Regardless, the video has certainly sparked an interesting conversation within the fandom, showcasing the passion and attention to detail fans have for both The Avengers and Phineas and Ferb universes.
