What’s the origin of the world’s first Quirk in My Hero Academia?

The world of My Hero Academia is a fantastical universe where superpowers, known as Quirks, have become the norm. These abilities have allowed humans to perform incredible feats, transforming society and creating a whole new dynamic where heroes and villains are born. The origins of Quirks, however, are shrouded in mystery, with the exact timeline of their emergence never specified. However, it is known that the first person to ever possess a Quirk was a baby known as the Luminescent Baby.

This divine sign, who was born in Qing Qing, China, had a Quirk that manifested itself via the infant child’s skin, which shone like a light. The Luminescent Baby did not utilize their power to fight crime, as their abilities were non-offensive. Nonetheless, their birth paved the way for the emergence of other Quirk-users, who later became the superheroes and villains in My Hero Academia.

As more individuals began to develop Quirks, criminals and villains began to emerge, taking advantage of their superhuman powers to engage in nefarious activities. The presence of these individuals led to a growing anti-Quirk sentiment within society, with the police force unable to keep up with their powers. Hero agencies emerged, staffed by individuals with Quirks who wanted to protect those without them. These agencies aimed to rescue and evacuate the general public against threats such as natural disasters or villain attacks. The introduction of hero agencies brought about a new era of heroes and villains, leading to the development of a clear societal hierarchy.

Interestingly, despite the major impact Quirks have had on society, their origin remains unknown. Some speculate that it was the result of a virus carried by vermin, while others suggest it was due to an event or experiment. Regardless of how they emerged, Quirks paved the way for the rise of superheroes and villains, leading to a world that is full of excitement, danger, and adventure.
